Gauge pod.
I am thinking about installing a cheap voltmeter to mount either in my A-pillar (if I can manage that) or right next to it in a pod. Has anybody ever done this before? How should I go about wiring the gauge to the ignition wires? And which ones are they? Furthermore, will I have to cut any holes in the dashboard for any reason (A-pillar mounting OR gauge pod mounting)? I am really nervous about this and I want to do it right the first time. Any stories, experiences, and help is appreciated.
Can I ask why? Voltmeters are pointless
Just run a wire to any part/wire which is hot when the ignition is on, then a ground.
A pillar mounting will require drilling screws into the pillar and a hole for the wires to go through. Looks nasty when/if you pull it out. cluster gauge pod is easier to work with IMO. What year do you have?

Can i ask why people need a gauge that tells them the temperature of their EXHAUST? Voltmeter seems to be quite useful.
EGT's are more important to monitor than volts especially in boosted setups. try to learn what something does before you start arguing against it.
Well, then why do practically all american cars come with either a voltmeter or an ammeter? I have driven said cars and they come in handy in diagnosing whether the battery is starting to die or the alternator is starting to die. The last thing I want to do while driving down the road is have it stall out because my alternator is fried.

1995. It says under my name lol. And I want a voltmeter so I can monitor my battery. I probably will get an ammeter as well to monitor the alternator, and have a real idea of my electrical system's condition.
