civic 95 ex fills up with 3 gallons, HELP!
Hey all. I have a civic 95 ex coupe and i have to constantly be putting gas because it only takes 3 gallons max. Since I purchased it, its been this way. the fuel gauge is at full after i fill it up but as soon as its empty it goes down half way. i know my gauge is acting up and i will fix this but what i don't understand is the tank issue only taking up 3 gallons. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks
The extra kilos of coke in there take up the other 9 gallons! The float in your fuel tank may not be functioning properly or sending unit bad. Search for the way to test the output and see if it is withing specs.

YES, the car only takes 3 gallons of gas in the tank. Its really just annoying now because I literally have to be at the gas station daily putting in $10 max because it can over flow. anyone know what I should do?

yes the gas pump clicks off, so i tried putting in a bit more to see exactly how much can go in and it over flowed at 3 gallons. once those 3 gallons are up the car starts loosing power and really feels like its about to turn off, which leads me to believe its almost empty and the fuel gauge is at mid way.
...Don't drill a hole in your gas tank. Can we stop the idiocy?
OP, fill up at the closest gas station to your house. Drive home, remove your rear seat and pull out the fuel pump assembly. Use a flashlight and see how much fuel is actually in there.

not sure if you know what welds look like?
1, (google) how to change fuel pump. and follow those instructions it will help you identify where and what your gas tank is and doing that you can inspect it. under rear seat..
2. there is a 17mm fuel drain plug under your car ALREADY do not need to drill holes while under car look and see if the gas tank looks factory.
3. was your car ever a "race/drag" car maybe has an altered external/internal fuel cell instead of factory 12 gallon tank.
4. your car was really a mule and was altered for the use of transporting drugs over border and only needed 3 gallons to do so.

There is a hose that is above the pump itself before it comes out the top. If the hose is cracked or a clamp is loose, the line would suck in air if the fuel is below that line in the tank. May want to pull the pump and check that connection and hose.
