2001 Civic Coupe Transmission Problem
Hey all, I have a 2001 Honda Civic Coupe. I was driving threw town just fine with no issues. I went to get on the highway and my shifter got really sloppy, I still had all my gears and the car still worked fine so i continued on my way home hoping it was maybe just a shifter bushing. When i exit the highway i stopped at a stop light and when i went to go I found out that I only had 1st gear. The shifter would only move from first toward second and not over towards any of the other gears. The clutch still seems to work fine but the no matter what it is stuck in 1st. Any ideas or places to start would be greatly appreciated.

Check your transmission fluid for any debris in the case. It sounds like you may have grenaded your transmission, but I'm not 100% certain on that.
just want to make sure that its a manual transmission... if so, it could just be a clutch that needs replacing. sometimes if one of the springs pops out of the hub on the clutch disc, the debris can be lodged somewhere in there preventing you from shifting. to me, thats what it sounds like. but, if it actually drives in 1st gears, then i really dont know. that could be something different and toyomatt84 is probably on the money.
