D4light
The light is a sign that something is wrong with the transmission.. Don't just ignore it
You can check the code yourself. There is an unconnected two pin connector at the top of the kick panel at the edge of the dash on the passenger's side. You can jump that with a paper clip and read the codes yourself.:
1 - lockup control solenoid A
2 - lockup control solenoid B
3 - throttle position sensor
4 - Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)
5 - gear position switch short
6 - gear position switch open
7 - shift control solenoid A
8 - shift control solenoid B
9 - countershaft speed sensor
10 - engine coolant temperature sensor
11 - ignition coil
12 - none
13 - none
14 - FAS brn/wht wire between TCU pin D16 and ECU
15 - mainshaft speed sensor

How did you check for codes?
On the CB there is the blue connector by the passenger kick panel, pull it out, jump the connector with a wire, make sure the wire is properly inserted. Turn the car to ON, but do not start. The D4 light should blink a code. If not, verify that the blue connector and wire pigtail are attached to the ECU/TCU harness.
You can cause a code by disconnecting a sensor such as hte TPS or VSS. If no code registers there is most likely something wrong with the wireharness.
But be sure that the jumper wire you are using is making full contact. If using a paperclip, make sure it is not one with a rubberized coating.
