reaching hp goal of 140whp
after asking a few questions and looking at the forced inductions faq i am at a breaking point. i dont want to run nos on my car because i have no idea how to get it filled and it is for street use. i was thinking turbo but after looking at my budget it seems all i could really do is get a cheap ebay get or a peice toghter kit, and not have hardly anything left over for a tune. unless someone can give any advice for a budget tune, (ik chrome is free) my hp goals are around 160-180 i have 130 stock at the crank not at the wheels at the wheels id like to be around 140-150? what do you think could get me to reach those hp goals while being light on the wallet (no 2000 turbo set up) like i said i have basic mods i/h/e and stright pipe. wheels and tires. without going forced induction how could i reach these goals i was thing high comprission pistions and a good cam
well reagrdles what engine... somethings that will improve how your car accelerates..like rims.... stock rims are heavy and have alot of rotating mass... find some honda HX wheels.. or even the VX wheels if your stock rim is a 13 inch.. lighter rims alone will greatly help accleration and braking.
for that kind of a hp increase you may want to take another look at nos.

the biggest question is how opposed to a swap are you and what is a reasonable budget that you have in mind?
if you're willing to swap a in a B18C1 from a gsr it could run you about 2k+/- but with basic bolt-ons and some maintenance you can build about160-165whp and 110-120wtq or
you could do a hybrid. ls vtec or b20 vtec which could make about the same whp as the gsr but with more wtq offerings. another consideration is one of the big blocks, f or h series. just to put it out there i make 172whp and 158wtq with bolt-ons and lower than stock compression. if i were to mill my head and use an oem honda head gasket it'd be worth another 4whp and if i ported the head and had a better header and intake manifold i could make another 5-10whp and all that on a superflow.

Light weight flywheel frees up HP to the wheels. Buuut I'd do a swap first, more bang for the buck. Or save up for cheap Turbo setup, basically what everyone else said.
even a b16 will get you to your power goal faster than doing work on d series.
b16s with boltons and some bigger cams make decent power compared to same from d series

Agreed. I have a friend with a d16z6 and he has Bisimoto lvl2 cam, PNP head, supertech valvetrain, skunk2 intake Mani, DC sports header and password:jdm carbon intake and it makes a whopping 130whp for about 3g's.

how is that even relevant?
if you gonna do so much work the mileage wouldnt matter. you gonna replace pistons you have to replace bearings.
bigger cams you should upgrade timing belt also.
etc.
sell this engine and buy a b series vtec engine drop it in and tune it. and you got 140-160WHP depending on which one you get. and alot more torque than single cam
