Default Spray gun recomendations

I am getting into some body work and eventually plan to paint my car. Question is what make and model of spray gun do you reccomend? I want something that is easy for a beginner to use and also something high quality enough that I wont need or want to replace it in a couple years after I get some more experience. Quality is more important than money to me. Thanks for any advice!

SATA OR DIE!!!
thats what i have.. got a HVLP Satajet 4000 series with a 1.3 tip, the best paint gun i've ever used. its a bit pricey($700-800) depending on where you buy it, but you wont be disappointed on the quality and feel of the gun.. Iwata also makes good paint guns, never used before by i hear that they make pretty good paint guns also and they're a bit cheaper. You might also want to consider fluid tip sizes. 1.2 or 1.3 for basecoat and clear and 1.4 for primer since its a bit thicker than paint.

Are you also planning on spraying primer or just basecoat and clear?

Iwata's, Devilbiss Tekna, Sata are all good gun manufacturers, depends waht you want to do with it and how much you have to spend and also the conditions your spraying in. I have a Brand new Sata for $400 if anything though, ;-)

I forgot about Devilbiss, although never heard of Tekna before.
I would got with Iwata or Devilbiss, they both get the job done at affordable price!

Remember to buy a gun that your compressor can run.

The devilbiss millennium gti is a nice gun for someone that's not going to do a lot of painting. I've used one for years and it also comes with a 1.3,1.4 and a 1.5 tip. I use the 1.5 for primer. The 1.4 for clear and the 1.3 for base and thinner clear. The Sata is a very nice gun but when you get into the "upper class" guns like this I use a separate gun for whatever I'm spraying. ( one gun for primer one gun for base and one for clear). Out of all the spray guns I have and have used I think my iwata lph400 lays down clear better than any other gun (yes even better than the sata). Iwata also has a newer gun called the supernova. I haven't actually used this one yet but it is supposed to be really nice.
Sharpe also makes some nice paint guns when you get to their high end stuff. If money really don't matter I would go with sata or iwata. You just can't go wrong with these and they both work really well

another you might want to consider about primer is that if you dont want to spray it with your paint guns.. 3m has HVLP Primer gun.. I use this gun specifally and only for primer, its very easy and fast to clean and it gets the job done.. only thing about them is that you have to change out the plastic tips every so often(probably about 8-10 uses).. i believe they retail for $125.. heres what they look like

Pancho, do you use that for all primers? How well does it spray epoxy? Right now I use a devilbiss for dura build and a sharpe for epoxy.

Ampro makes great guns for $50-100. They also have low volume low pressure guns if you can't run a huge 80gal compressor. You can do great paint jobs with inexpensive guns it's all about prep work and skill.

Use it for every primer and all of them spray pretty good through the gun..
Cant say ive ever used dura build.. no real need for it when you get some urethane primer!

I have been doing alot of research and I really like what I'm hearing about the Devilbiss Finish Line 4 guns. When I look at the Devilbiss webpage I see several differnt model numbers (FLG-670, FLG-671, FLG-678) for differnt uses. Are these all the same gun just with differnt tips and cup? If so, can I purchase and use any cup (alluminum, acetal, and disposable) on the Finish Line gun?
