2nd Gen prelude Choke issues

Default 2nd Gen prelude Choke issues

Here is the situation:

-Canadian 1985 Prelude.
-1.8 Dual Carb
-Automatic
-I was having overcharging issues, and fried a few voltage regulators.
-Found to be (the Electrical shop thought) a faulty Field Diode in the alternator
-I couldn't wait for a 3rd new voltage regulator, after the 2nd one blew up on the test bench with my alternator (Daily Driver, 85km daily commute)
-shop wired up a self-exciting voltage regulator to my alternator
-I now don't use the alternator plug, or the stock voltage regulator

Issues:
-3 Amp parasitic drain, which none of the fuses stopped
-Battery light stays on (It runs off the stock regulator) no big deal
-Terrible fuel mileage and 1200rpm idle (13mpg highway, It's been like 20*C here)

Now I'm assuming, since the electric choke operates off the stock voltage regulator, it is not functioning properly.

What I need:
-I need someone who understands how the electric choke operates, and what it's relationship is with the voltage regulator so I can mimic it.
-That way, I can wire it up to work somehow, maybe to a switch or something, or even convert it too a mechanical choke
- I have a Chiltons manual wiring diagram I can get photocopied on the weekend, and a specific ALT-BAT-REG diagram from the electrical shop too.
