b18a vs geb 1 b16 vs ls/vtec
what do u guys think if i got a b16 long block and put it into my 93 ls and have ls tranny. would you think itd run better than my stock ls motor that beat 8-10 si's and that can hangs with gts celicas off the line. would the b16 do better than the motor i have now? OR should i just get a b16 head and take it to my local shop(jotech) and install ls/vtec? would that be the best thing to do? is there any complication with the tranny or anything?
thx
geb = gen

B16a:
im tryin to ask these guys the same Q's. from what i understand. you can get the B16a longblock and bolt it onto your LS tranny, longer gears=less quickness, also.... b16a is 1.6L compared to the LS 1.8L they both have to power the 2400 lb teg= less torque and overall, slower,(so i have heard) but better top end HP.... the swap can be done really cheap seeing on how all you need is ECU wiring and the longblock. (i think, but dont quote me on that) OR you could save the trouble and just mod the LS engine some more
LS/VT
DAMN this looks like a complicated swap to me. altho, if done correctly it will produce more torque and possibly HP than GSRs... depends on how you build, and if its done correctly. im still learning on this..... but it looks expensive... from 1500-3000 built right by shop.
My plan:
Buy a 2nd gen teg. take out the LS engine, drop a B16a in while i work on the LS/VT conversion, then take out the B16a POS and put in the LS/VT......
if youve got the cash, i say go for the LS/VT.... or do what im doing.
WTF are you smokin? B16's SUCK! Either get lsvtech or get a gsr motor. Those are your only options. If you wanna save some money just spray the LS.
once again, the n00b gets his *** owned. if you don't know facts, keep your biased opinions to yourself.

to the domestic poop-for-brainsEDIT: Because turbo5.7L is probably too lazy to actually read the thread, that is a daily driven b16-powered Si.

the b16 is good motor. The only problem is that your teg is a little heavy for it. I think your b18 will perform better. Use the money on the b18 instead of swapping in a b16.

my recommendation is to do the ls/vtec recommendation...based on the choice given...get a b16a head..get it ported while your at..and get yourself a Si tranny...and you'll be a lot quicker...transmission makes a big big difference..
the only reason i was asking is because i dont want a high-milaged car
id pick an ls over any b16 in any car but mine has 137k and thats to much for me

OMFG, he thinks thats alot of power? heh.. would u read my SN? That dyno isnt **** dude. Buy a real car. B16's suck! If you can only afford to fix up hondas then atleast use the right motor.
