p28 / p08 smog issue...
To make a long uninteresting story short, I am running a jdm d16z6 with a p08 ecu. I can not pass CA smog.
My plan is to get a usdm p28 and see if that works.
What do you think, is the code so different between these ecus to fail smog? In my case run lean, and spew Nox.

Make sure you get a California spec P28 ECU...apparently there is something different.
No cel, new CA cat, new o2 sensor...
A CA spec ecu? Oh crap any idea of the model #?
000, 001, 002, 003, 004, A00, A01, A02, C00, C01, C02, J00, J01, J02, G00, G01
I guess I could get each one and keep retesting.

p28 should work good.
thats what comes on usdm z6
make sure you check if timing is adjusted properly
is there really a cali spec ecu for every engine?
i thought it was only for the z1 because of lean burn
how do cars that were brought out of state pass emissions then.
D15B
Bore and Stroke :75,0×84,5 mm
Displacement : 1,493 cc (91.1 cu in)
Rod Length : 137 mm
Rod/Stroke : 1.63
Compression : 9.3:1
----------------------
D16z6
Bore and Stroke: 75.0 × 90.0 mm (2.95 x 3.54 in)
Displacement: 1,590 cc (97 cu in)
Rod Length: 137 mm
Rod Ratio: 1.52~
Compression: 9.2:1
compression, rod ratio, displacement, and stroke is different
same thing happends to people with B20 swaps using LS ecu

Just to put this to rest, i passed. Running the wrong ecu was the problem. Hooked up the p28 wired in the 4 wire o2 sensor and that was it.
Thanks for the help peeps.
