bearing lube question

Default bearing lube question

do you lube the backside of the bearing before you put the bearings in or no? i have looked it up and i see yes and no. Im putting my motor together this week and want 100% sure.

you dont want oil on the backside of the bearing. That area should be free and clean of any oils or debris.

ok so just brake clean both areas to make sure they are grease and debris free

Make sure to apply lube to the areas that touch the crank, but not the back.

second question is there a a certain amount of lube to use on the bearings? spread it around or just at the lowest part good enough.

if you think an area is lacking, slop some more on there. Use non sparingly. Its only used for the first time spinning the engine over and getting it started. you cant honestly apply too much, in the context lol.
