Default Broken Odometer...

I bought this stock 1996 teg(ls) last week and the Odometer stopped moving two days after purchase...
I referred to this post,

https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...roken+odometer

and realized that it's both my odometer and trip meter that are out, and if both are out, then this fix might not work. Has anybody else had this same problem, or know of any way to fix it? I don't mind getting a new cluster to try an fix it, but I don't know if a new cluster will do it since it is both meters not working. Any help would be appreciated. Or if I missed an old thread with this fix, link me it and I will be on my happy way. Thank you!

Default Re: Broken Odometer...

does the other gauges like the temp gauge and fuel gauge work? does any light idicaters come on when you turn the key to the on position?

If only the speedo gauge and rpm gauge dont work it can be a few things. I would first pull out the cluster its very easy and check your plugs behind the cluster. If the speedo dont work look at the VSS sensor on the transmission, check the connection on the plug, sometimes it gets wet from coolant or corrosion and you have to clean up the connection.

If the rpm tach gauge dont work look for a any issues in your distributor and see if theres any crimps in the plug or blue wire which is the tach wire.

or just replace the cluster with a same year or older, if its a older cluster use the green electric film thats on the back of the original cluster and replace and move it on the new one.

Thanks for reply. It is only the Odometer and Trip underneath. The Speedo and Tach work fine. I am ordering a new cluster later this week to see if that fixes it. If it does not, then I don't know... I will post results here.
