95 has weak heat
I cant get good heat in my 95 coupe. The car has luke warm heat at best. I had a new 170* thermostat in but switched to 195* with no added heat (I tested both to make sure they were properly working before installing). Last night I ripped everything apart. I flushed the radiator completely. The heat control valve is opening fully when turned to Hot. The blend door is changing from cold to hot (can feel air temp when changing). No cables are off or broke. I removed both hoses off the head and blew the heater core out, doesn't seem to be clogged and the inlet hose is hot, return is slightly cooler but still hot. If I let the car sit the bottom rad hose will get hot, but when driving it is freezing cold. The fan is properly working because I bled the system by jacking the front of the car up and holding at 2k rpms until fan kicked on 2-3 times and thermostat opens to get all the air out. The rad is not low on coolant. I blocked the bumper off in front of the rad to see if that would help and hasn't. Is it possible the heater core is still blocked but allowing some water to pass through but not fully heating up?? any ideas?
thanks.
thanks.
No I didn't get an actual reading of the air. Its no way near as good as my brothers or dads civics (94 & 98) I drained the coolant down and blew air backwards through the heater core. I got a decent amount of chunks out of it. I have rad flush sitting in just the core right now, gonna leave that sit for about 30 minutes and flush it back wards again with air and water. I'm hoping this fixes it.
If you still cant get the core to clean up just replace it.
The task may seem daunting but it isnt really all that difficult.
Just give yourself a good 5 hours to do it.
I just replaced mine in my EG. It wasnt really difficult at all.
