Default engine overheated...

was letting car idle so that I could chk timing and got sidetracked. started to adjust my headlights and kinda noticed that fan was not on, but i just had started the car.

fan finally came on and ran a little longer than normal so i looked at my temperature guage and it was on 230~250..let car sit a little and restarted, temp at 210 and no fan(fan usually on at 195 on the dot) cut on heater and car got to about 215(hot air from vents)...lower radiator hose cold...

replaced thermostat with autozone special until monday. filled and bled cooling system with heater on..but no heat from vents..heater "inlet" on firewall is hot(hot right at the firewall, hot before heater box)but heater outlet hose is cool....

when i looked at the coolant before i replaced the thermo but after overheating there was "trash" in the coolant, no oilslick, no brown milky crap, just small specs of something and small chips or shavings..might even be the wax from the thermostat...

Default UPDATE...

heat is now working, i guess there was an air pocket somewhere, car is now running properly(fan on at 195, no overheating)...autometer guage was pegged (i think) , guage on dash was still in the middle...how long do you think my engine will last??
