Infinity Kappa 62.9i install questions
Hello, I am trying to install my 6.5" Infinity Kappa 62.9i speakers into my 1995 VX hatchback. I was wondering whether I would have more clearance with a set of aftermarket speaker adapters such as this one versus modifying the original brackets by cutting out the backing that stops my speakers from sitting flush inside the bracket as depicted below. I was also wondering if anyone has had any issues with their speakers rubbing against the speaker grilles at higher volumes?

That would be awesome except my window doesn't roll all the way down when the speaker is placed against the actual door and the mounting holes do not line up either.

Dont just mount the speaker to the door. It will sound like poo... Build a baffle ring or cut out the oem plastic one and use it. The pannel is not going rub on the speaker at high volume. There is not that much excursion on those speakers.
I guess I will try modifying the original brackets. Thank you.
Better yet, replace the stock plastic speaker mounting "brackets with custom MDF speaker mounting plates, the stock plastic housing can be used as a template so you can use the same mounting points, cur a hole in the plate to match your Infinity speaker mounting hole diameter, use thick enough MDF so speaker magnet clears the window.
A speaker mounted to wood will always sound better then one mounted to plastic and as mentioned mounting a speaker to sheet metal will sound like poo. 94
