How to install crossover component speaker?
How to hook yp the crossover and the speaker itself? I'm thinking of getting component for my R but this is new to me. With the corssover, is the sound going to be a lot better than the general speaker?
Hook up the mid and tweeter to the crossover, and the crossover to an amp (components usually require more power). The crossover splits the channels to the tweeter and mid. Yes it will sound better...but you need to position the tweeters for an ideal soundstage.

Anybody have a good suggestion on WHERE to mount the actual crossover?
I'm looking to install a pair of components in the doors and a pair of coaxials in the rear holes; both of which have crossovers.

you can put one set inside the door panel (there's a little pocket of sorts). just wrap it in some sort of cloth/foam/box carpet and stick it in there when you're putting the door panel back on. Mount the ones for the rear under the rear deck(inside the trunk). I guess it depends on whether or not you want them to be seen. You could also do a amp rack and put the xovers to the sides or wherever is asthetically pleasing.
for ease of install,(less wiring/fabrication) just hide em. if you want em to be seen, the sky's the limit (I've seen people mold them into the door panels etc.)

it should be clearly labeled on the cross over box... there is an input from your amps output +/-, theres an output to the mid range speaker +/-, then theres an output to the tweeter +/-... it will sound better depending on the speaker and amp provided you have the right equipment to power the speaker and that its positioned correctly...
as for where to put them you can put them in the door and wrap it w/ something.. also put a baggie and zip tie it so it doesn't get wet n stuff... you can also put it where the amps are, in the kicker panels, etc..
