Icon2 Ignition Cylinder Question

I have a 1990 crx si that I am trying to replace the ignition cylinder in.
The original is removed and I have the replacement, which is from a 1988 crx si.
I know that this replacement cylinder worked on the car it used to be in.
After working at this for about an hour, I was able to get the cylinder to click in, but not turn. I could not get it to go in any further, and when I wiggled too much it popped back out sending me all the way back to square one.
Pretty frustrating...
My question is; will this year cylinder work in the 1990?
I looked closely at them both and noticed slight differences.

Here is my methods to install it (or attempt to) in case if I am doing it wrong.

Key in off position
Turn to inbetween off and 1
Insert into housing
Turn to 1 while pushing in

Thank you in advance for any insight.

Default Re: Ignition Cylinder Question

Answered my own question by looking at the lengths of the two cylinders, I didn't realize before that the 1990 cylinder is longer than the 1988.
The two pins sit in different spots.
So I am getting a new key made for the original 1990 cylinder and will see how it works when I get it back.
