Car will not start for a bit then it will

Dash lights come on then the CEL, and brake light go off then you turn the key to start it and all it does is click once then and nothing turn it all of and start try again on the 4-5 time it starts i thought it could be the battery i gave the car a jump start still the same thing, im guessing starter?

 

im chasing the same thing on mine ...check for power at the starter solenoid with the key in the start position ...if bad check the ignition switch ,if good run a jumper wire to the starter solenoid ...if it doesnt crank change the starter , if it does check your grounds also make sure youre battery is fully charged .... ill update when i get mine pinned down

 

Does your CEL stay on?

Is the starter clicking and not rotating?

My CRX was would take a few key turns to start and I got a new starter and now it starts every time.

 

if it is cranking it can be a few things... check thermostat ground.. if its bad car will not start... also check main relay... if its not cranking its probably most defiantly the stater! Good luck!

 

Try cleaning the battery connectors/posts, as well as the G1 battery ground attached to the chassis and the G3 ground that bridges the transmission to the chassis.

Also have your battery tested. It may be low on charge or toast.

 

Ron is also correct I forgot to state clean your posts an connectors.. Had a fresh batt in my Ef an she wouldn't start... confused I replaced my most likely stock batt terminals an she fired right up!

 

new main relay so its not that and doesn't crank the motor only makes a tick noise took it to school today and parked it in the shop and it got warmed up fired up instantly i have a feeling its the battery il have to get it checked out this weekend

 

mine turned out to be the starter .... something to do with the cold weather and a voltage drop
