Can't read code. Cel only when car is running 94 gsr
I've got a cel but it only comes on when the car is running. not when it's in the acc/2 postion on the ignition. was told that you can read it even when the car is running. so i tried, i put the paper clip in and everything(wiggled it around a bit) but nothing just a solid cel. im having other problems with the car so i really need to find out what this cel is and narrow down the issue. anyone else had this happen or know what it could be ?
yes solid CEL no flashing but only when the car's on. so a bad ecu(ecm is just another term for ecu right) ? thanks

You need to find out why you cant retreive the codes while ignition switch is at 2nd position.
Have you tried a different ecu yet?

going to re-set it tomorrow and go from there. have to go out and pick up a new chipped ecu if it turns out to be the ecu/ecm. don't know any one with an 0bd1 ecu that would work.
Dont just get a random chipped ECU, You need a tune that suits your mods and setup chipped to an ECU.
No everything else's fully functional car pulls hard to.I still have to re-set the ECU(will be doing so today)
jump the harness under the passenger side dash (should be a blue plug) with a paper clip and count the codes. If it's a solid CEL it's 10 then every light after that is 1. If there is more than one code being thrown it will send a different flash afterwards. Then just use a helms/haynes manual or here to figure out what code it is throwing. Hope this helps
It's a solid cel only when the car is running. I have a feeling it's the ECU because I unblugged the VTEC solinoid and nothing changed/happened(showed no codes). I also tryd re-setting it again nothing. I've read codes from it before. But just a solid it's really starting to bug me.
just check your powers and grounds at the ecm. there will be 2 powers, one keyed and one constant (KAM), and should be about 3 grounds. find a pinout and check them.
if those all check out, try another ecm. this way you're at least testing up to the ecm before replacing. it'll only take 5 minutes, including looking up the pin out and costs nothing

By ECM do you mean ECU ? But these wires are they the harness wires ? Sorry I'm just not familiar with that term.
*Update i can retrive codes i made a little vid to show what it does may-b pointless but stil. thanks for all the help so far !
i did clear the coeds and it still stays solid.
I know I unplugged them for the video then I re-set to clear it but it's still solid.can read codes jaut fine **thred no longer relevant**
I still don't know what a solid cel means but the 2 codes that were blinking in the vid were just to show that I could retrieve them.
