Default USDM ITR Cluster

bought a USDM ITR 98 cluster and tried to hook it up in my 95 GSR. Everything plugs up perfectly, but doesn't work correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
How many wires do I need to change? :

The 98 cluster will only work for a 96-99 gsr. Sell the type r cluster.
I thought that the gauge cluster would work on 98 and up cars.. like the JDM ITR cluster..

sorry to bring this out of the dead, but once you swap the itr parts onto say a 95 gsr cluster, do you still keep the orig odo? i want that. also, do you have to recalibrate the tach or anything...now that the redline that is showing is higher or anything?/?

It's a bit harder to keep the odo.. but here's how

First, don't assemble the cluster fully, use all the ITR guages first including the odo/speedo unit. Just screw the gauges to the white part and plug it in. take it up to say 60mph in 5th and note the RPM. You can use that RPM to calibrate the hybrid speedo the best you can.

1. Put both speedos on a table/workbench.
2. Lift the needle up and over the 0mph stop on both odometers
3. the needle will move to about straight down, mark this spot in your head.
4. Remove both needles with a screwdriver (careful to not scratch the gauge face)
5. unscrew the gauge faces from the speedos (2 screws IIRC).
6. Put the ITR gauge face onto the GS-R speedo/odo unit. If you get the faces confused just look at the back, the GS-R will have a blue tint to it and the ITR will have a white/orange tint.
7. screw the ITR gauge face onto the GS-R speedo unit
8. Put the needle back into approx the original place (use firm pressure, but do NOT push it ALL the way down, the needle wont move freely) and lift it up and over the 0mph stop.
9. Make sure the needle moves freely
10. put hybrid gauge into cluster and plug in a verify the speed is correct based on the test above. If not, adjust (remove/replace needle), if so, compltely assemble the cluster.
