Default Need new + battery terminal

I needed a new battery on my 07 crv and I put it in but when it came to the positive terminals, I guess I accidently macho-manned it and bent the terminals. I tried bending it back but I broke one of the terminals off. Basically I need a new one now. How hard is it to install? Is there a DIY anywhere? I suppose this would be easier if there wasn't so much plastic on the battery terminal itself...

edit: can anyone find the part number. I tried searching on rockauto with no luck

...... one of these?

cut off the old one, strip some of the plastic/rubber sheilding off the wire...losen the bolts on the terminal, insert stripped wire, tighten the bolts down. put the terminal on the battery....be careful with tightening it on the battery as it will break...just needs to be snug.

Pretty much the simplest repair you could do...pretty self explanatory...

You can buy one from your local auto parts store for 2 bucks...i recommend the lead ones like i pictured.

To make it like factory you need a positive battery cable from Honda. To replace the cable you need to remove the intake manifold and it takes about 1.5 hours to do. It's a big pain in the *** since it runs to the starter and alternator and a couple other sensors and fuse box

it was too cold to go outside to take a picture so i did a quick google search. it looks like this:

so as you can see autozone battery clamps won't fit? I mean, it's hard to see without taking off the entire red plastic piece, I'm scared I'll just break it anymore at this point. Too much damn plastic and not enough Honda intuitiveness like back in the day where a simple replacement took 5 minutes.

Can't really see it, but under the plastic there has to be wire there somewhere. Get a bit of 0 awg wire, a 0 awg butt connector, and a regular post. Solder the wires together with the butt connector and use a regular post on the end. Done deal.

Just buy this for 25 bucks.

It'll save you trouble down the line. You could get away with soldering or crimping a new terminal on, but it sure will be ugly going down the interstate and having it fail on you, or getting stuck in a sketchy part of town because your car won't start....is all I'm saying...

Not to scare you, but Honda's list price for this is $221.87. If you're getting it at $150, that is probably near cost, or not OEM.....Like others have said, it is a 1.5 hour job to replace these, good luck with the splice method (I have the same issue with the wife's Expedition and it's not a cheap fix...this is not just a Honda issue)

The top part looks rubber....either way keep the cover and get rid of anything that's in your way to change the end.

To make you buy an expensive cable afterwords as well as to resist green death. Put some grease on it and youre good to go.
