Okay I have a 91 ef with a d16zc dohc. It started to take a bunch of cranking to get it started and then id be driving down the road and itll start bogging real bad off idle. I replaed the fuel pump and now itll start and shut off after two seconds. Is it a fuel pressure regulator or fuel filter maybe. Relay? Any have experience with this??

 

New swap or has it been running well until recently?

Check whether there is bright white spark at all 4 spark plugs.

Check whether all 4 injectors spray/pulse fuel.

Check the mechanical timing.

 

Check your main relay mine was having the same problems until one day it just never started again after cranks and cranks. If the main relay doesn't click when you put it to on its the culprit.

 

I turn the key, relay clicks, fuel pump primes, it might fire on two or three cylinders but wont fire up. It eventually fired up yesterday but today it doesnt want to. This is really wierd and is a serious problem

 

Check fuel injectors an fuel pressure regulator man.. sounds like a fuel problem by the way your a stating your problems. Good luck!

Sorry, Its been swaped in for a few years, I bought the car and it ran great.
Spark is bright blue.

 

Spark should be bright white - test the coil and igniter unit.

CEL codes? All 4 injectors spray/pulse fuel? Mechanical timing correct?
