When I try to start all it does is whirr, so i replaced the starter and still acts the same. I took it to a buddy of mine and he jumped the solenoid and it turned right on. I've been doing it like that ever since. This one night i was turning it on, it sparked more than usual and started to turn on normally but is back at it again. Any help is appreciated! Its a 93 eg hatch

 

Check the cable running to your starter from the battery. Also check to see that the starter signal wire is still properly attached. I believe there is a fuse for starter signal as well under the dash. Good luck!

 

Did the notorious rubber stopper (red arrow) at the top of the clutch pedal fall out?

 

I have seen that happen as well...
