ECU/Wiring question(s) for B18C1 Swap into EJ8
Hi guys! New to the site...
Chassis: 1998 Honda Civic EX Sedan
New Motor: 2000 B18C1
So from doing some research, I'm currently OB2A and the new motor is unfortunately OB2B. I purchased the complete swap with wiring harness and OBD2B ECU. understand that I have the following options:
1) Because the OBD2B ECU has an immobilizer, I can send the ECU to a place that will re-chip the ECU so the immobilizer is no longer an issue, and buy an OBD2A to OBD2B jumper harness
or
2) Obtain an OBD2A ECU and I'll have no need for a jumper or re-chipping (which to me sounds like the way to go). I also think I understand I will not have any issues with BAR or smog going this route.
Am I missing something? Can it really be as easy as option 2? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
