98 Honda Accord Coupe windows won't close
Ok, I am not as mechanically savvy as some and this the reason I am here, but I love my VTEC V-6 98 Accord Coupe.
First the passenger door window started jumping as it was being closed and now has stopped working all together about 4" from closed, so shortly after the drivers side window is doing the same. Is there a way to check if it is something else(remember, admitted not a mechanical guy) before assuming it is the motors? I am able to work on it, just not as good at diagnostics.
Thanks all!

this pin has failed on both of your regulators, and I would say that with 99% certainty. the fix is to replace the regulators, but reuse the regulator motors (this saves a fair amount of money on parts). it is also a good idea to put some waterproof lube in the window runs (rubber groove/weatherstrip that the glass rides in) to prevent premature wear on the new regulators. Dow 111 grease is great for this but hard to find and a little expensive. I've had success with high temp faucet grease.
you can find the regulator itself starting at $25 each on Rockauto.com. if you plan to keep the car for more than a year or so (and it sounds like you do...) spring for the more expensive/higher quality parts at about $40 each.
Asking, because I have an issue with the window too.
Thanks for the help and advice

no, it's not the same. it's not quite as thick and I'm pretty sure there are little other similarities in it's base lubricants. However, it suits the application well since it's designed to be used with a wide range of plastic and rubber materials, works well in the temp range seen by car exteriors and is water proof so it won't wash away.

I used silicone based lubricant today and windows are working like a charm, not sure how long it will last?
Thanks again for the help and advice.

I know this issue well. I've had to replace both regulators on my '01 coupe. you'll need to do the same... the regulators are scissor type and the spring loaded pivot pin is a very soft metal that appears to be designed as a fail point to spare the motor from damage.

I found a bulk deal on Amazon.com (12 pack of 2-3 oz. tubes) for about $1 per tube. normally $3-4 will get you enough for two cars liberally lubed. Lowes and the like carry it, but mosly only in little tubs for prices i wasn't too keen on.
