Default 1998 Honda Civic and driver side power window

Odd, when rolling up the window it seems to roll forward (dip) towards the front with a gap at the rear. Then it started to pinch the weather stripping at the rear (weather rubber lip being pinched with window rolling up outside the rubber lip). Now the rubber weather stripping that is around the power mirror seems to have come out. In any case does this sound like the weather stripping has crapped out? How hard is it to replace the stripping around the entire door? Any idea cost from Majestic? Not sure which parts to order. Anything else that might be the problem related to this ongoing saga? Any write ups etc. would be very helpful. Thanks!!!

Weather stripping is fairly easy. If your window is "dipping", it's not aligned on the track anymore. Take the door card off and fix that. It's a 30 minute job, and you should only need a few basic hand tools.

Thanks. Not sure I understand what you mean by the door card? How do you fix the alignment issue? Does it require a part? If so, which one. A write up or detailed explanation would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

There is a procedure for properly aligning the door window glass in the service manual. Try that first, though I think the underlying cause of the problem is probably a bad window regulator that needs to be replaced.

Thanks. How difficult is it to replace the regulator? I was thinking the same thing. I lubed up the track a while back but it really only made a slight difference.

Thanks again. Will price the parts out and devote a day. Sucks not being able to roll the window down...

Also, on a side note, I notice that sometimes my door locks stick when locking or unlocking and you have to hit the unlock/lock button a couple of times. I have a Viper alarm, but would that be alarm related or is their some main relay that controls the lock/unlock that might be going bad?

Uh, one more question. On the regulator do you have to drill out rivets, etc or is it mounted with screws? Any special tools for either the weather stripping or regulator required?

This could be caused by a mechanical problem or a bad lock actuator. Start by checking for a mechanical problem - for example, is locking/unlocking difficult when done manually?

No, not difficult. It seems to affect all doors. Hit the unlock button or lock, have to do it sometimes a couple of times before it actually locks or unlocks them all.

As far as the regulator, do you have to drill out rivets to remove?

Nope.

Bolt out and bolt in for regulator.

Pull out and press in for rubber window channel.

Also, is the rubber that goes around the side mirror, and seems to provide some type of gasket to the glass (the area right where the glass meets the top of the side mirror) - is the rubber one piece? Because it looks like when I rolled the window up it grabbed that piece of rubber and kind of popped it out of the area that it seems to be sandwiched between the mirror and door. Not sure if it tore or not, doesn't look like it. I tried pushing it back in, but the glass when rolling it up seems to pull it out again. Any trick to getting this back in, or do I need to buy new rubber? Thanks again! The small things seem to be the biggest pain in the ***...

The rubber window glass channel is one piece (both sides and top).

Thanks! Can someone help me on what part numbers I need? I'm looking at 1sthondaparts (for some reason majestic is blocked from work) and I would like to replace the following but not sure exactly what the numbers are:

1. Main weather stripping inside the window channel of the driver door all the way around.
2. The Power Door Lock Control Unit for the driver door
3. Window regulator for the power window on the driver side door
4. The rubber gasket thing that sandwiches between the driver side mirror and door (window slides through it).

Thanks!!

Ron, in addition to the other questions I posted, I noticed that my door lock would NOT unlock the doors, but would lock them - seems to happen EVERY time I wash my car. Could water down the lip seals on the door/glass be interfering with a module, or something? The next day the switch worked fine as long as I tried to unlock/lock the door a couple of times - seemed to stick the first time around. Also, all the locks sound "weak" when locking/unlocking...
