Type R Cams shutting the car off.
Goodnight Honda Tech, unfortunately I had to make my first post a question. I recently bought an Integra, with a pr3 OBD0 computer and ITR Cams. The car runs rich and when I hit vtec it shuts off after I'm done braking. I have 2 questions.. What is a good tuning system for an OBD0 pr3? I've done the research and believe me I could not find an answer to my simple question. I wanted to go the Hondata route, but none of them work with OBD0. I need to make a 4 hour drive with this car, is this possible while running lean? Or do I HAVE to get tuned first before I make that drive? I'm not that concerned with power right now, I just need the motor to be healthy. I know I need to convert it to OBD1, but I don't think I'll have the time to do that before the trip...Any suggestions?
Much help appreciated.

don't drive the car until you convert to obd1. if you want to save some money you can use a basic obd1 p28 ecu and crome which is free software. if you get someone who knows how to tune a car crome isn't bad, just doesn't have the flexibility of hondata. for a mild NA build i would have no problem using crome.

you need an obd1 ecu with the ability to control vtec, a p72 would work, same with a p28. the risk you have of driving before you do this is burning a hole in a piston from the timing and air fuel being wrong.
do the conversion, get the ecu, tune on crome if you're broke. a lot of tuners will have a crome pro license that allows them to use the better version of crome on any ecu, you just pay for the tune and are good to go

if you already have a socketed p28 all you need is another prom to burn the tune on, that's like a $2 to $5 either buy one from your tuner or you can mail order one from www.englishracing.net
