Default Low idle/Sputter

Hey guys, I have a b16 Crx(DC header, CAI, exhaust, and a chipped ECU, removed all the dashpots) And whenever I start my car from a cold start it idles low at around 800 rpms(for a split second) then drops to around 500. If I push on the gas it hesitates/sputters(almost sounding like backfiring but it's not), then jumps up, then shoots way down to about 200-300 rpms, then goes back to 500 rpms. If I leave it alone for awhile at 500 rpms, then turn the car off and on, it returns to the normal 1000-1200 rpms and doesn't sputter/hesitate. I am thinking it could be the ECU just dumping fuel as the program is pretty bad( you can smell fuel from pretty far away) and I don't have another OBD0 ECU to test. I do have a check engine light.Any idea's? Thanks.

TPS, but I doubt that would cause it. And to my knowledge it hasn't been serviced. Other then spark plugs/wires.

EDIT: What makes you think it might be the ignition? The car never shuts off on me while driving.

If you reset the ECU, does code 7 return. If so, that's almost surely the problem. Ohm and voltage test your TPS.

Never ignore CEL codes.

Alright, I'll go borrow a reader, and see if that is it. If it is, I can used a b16a2 TPS correct? I just like to make sure.

A reader?
Is your ECU pre-OBD (aka OBD0) or OBD1?

Neither require a code reader.
Search Google for how to retrieve trouble codes

1000-1200 idle is "normal"?
