My mom's 97 CR-V has been having trouble starting in the cold mornings recently (battery is only a year old) and I told her to contact the local Honda dealer about a block heater. According to the local dealer the part has been discontinued and they didn't offer any alternatives. Does anyone know of a place I might be able to still get the OEM part or does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket block/engine heaters? I see there are several different types some of which just get routed inline with the lower radiator hose.

If you mail me your block off plate and pay shipping for me to send mine, it's yours. I'm in Canada though but it shouldn't be expensive.

 

That's mighty nice of you. Fortunately I found a freeze plug style unit at the local NAPA. The couple of places I looked online before posting were either not for a CR-V or were the kind you stick on the bottom of the oil pan or inline with the radiator hose. I think the freeze plug type will work much better.
