Default just bought dc2 with b18a1?

Hey guys, I just bought a recently painted dc2 for a super bargain price. Engine is stumbling a bit, i guess the guy was tired of it, i immediately knew it was only anexhaust leak lol but he told he he bought the car and the last person swapped in a b18a1 for higher compression. Now, im a single cam guy. Ive been working my d16y8 civic for a while and am in the midst of turboing it. I however am clueless on b series. How good is this b18a1? Is there any head swaps to be done for a nice gain in power? And how much of a power difference will I see against my civic? Obviously its stronger, but I also heard the dc2s are much heavier. Im not sure what my plans are for the car but I wanted to get a bit more info before i did. Oh yeah, i bought it for 800 bucks haha thanks

Good price, dont even bother modding it or swapping heads, power gains are minimal. Hands down a simple turbo kit even a ebay turbo kit and dyno tune will give you a way better power gain and will be much funner and better than all that.

A c5 swap will always be a good upgrade for a motor swap but compared to a turbo b18a1 theres a world of a difrence, And it makes more sence to just install a turbo kit and tune than to swap a motor out and in for just a minamal power gain from the c5 motor specifacally the short gearing from the c5 trans. and the vtec you will have. so maybe realistacly just a few hp more, the ls is about 140-150 bhp and the c5 is about 190 bhp. Use the money for the turbo and tune and yeild a fun 250-300 WHP and lots of tq! bring up the boost say past 10 psi and your in the 350-400 whp but it seems your familiar with boosting a sohc so you should have some knowledge on boosting a B series motor, the ls is no more diffrent besides bieng a 1.8l dohc i would say.

What model civic do you have...Since you said it has a Y8 I would guess its an EX, but it could be swapped I suppose. If it's a mostly stock EX coupe, you might have a slightly faster car in the integra if it is actually running well. I would say that for the most part, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two in a drag race, but the torque of the B18 should be noticeably better.

Also, you say its a DC2, so it is a GSR shell then? What transmission does it have as that could make it feel a little livelier.

Sorry to the confusion, my teg was actually just an LS. A1 block with a B1 head. Found out it has some mild Crower cams with it, and I believe the tranny is the one that comes with the B1. Loving the gearing compared to my civic. The civic is actually a DX with an ex swap. The teg has a stage one clutch and man I love the way it grabs lol. Integra feels decently faster. Thinking once I'm done with my civic being turbo'd, I'd put the integra up next. That would be nice to do lol but one turbo project is expensive enough as it is
