Build Thread - 90 hatchback dx/jdm d15b swap
I just thought it was time for me to put up a build thread, I have been looking around here for a few months on how to do a dpfi to mpfi swap and a cable clutch to hydro clutch swap, I have a 1990 honda civic hatchack dx that has a blown motor that im putting a jdm d15b vtec in, I was also thinking about putting a stage two cam in it. I also need to find a place to get replacement motor mounts from, To me it looks like the swap is pretty straight forward since i dont have to change motor mounts. and then to the diy dpfi-mpfi swap made easy post. that helped out alot i also have the mpfi wiring harness for the plugs. This hatch is my girlfriends car if it where mine id go k24a but i also not big on hondas i like them but there not my thing. Im also putting in a hydro 5 speed trans from a del sol i think, im also going to be running a chipped p28 ecu.

Thanks im hoping to get the motor and trans in two weeks after i order the del sol throw out bearing and the jumper harness. Im going to pull the motor tuesday or wensday this week while I have off. I might order the hydro clutch swap while im at it. while i have the motor out im going to run the wire for the mpfi. Did you have a post made for your wagon and is it the rt4wd. I love them 4wd wagons but there is only one in my town and i havent seen it in a long time so no idea if its still here.
Welp tomorrow the motor is gonna be pulled would be done now but lack of help means i cant have it done till tomorrow when i get my buddy over im gonna be pulling the axles today at some point and the head and **** was pulled off to be sold so that some one else can use it and i can use the money to get some bearings i need.

Thanks, I just got the half shaft's off the exhaust header/downpipe off, the wiring harnes so i can start swaping over the obd1 stuff that is needed on there, Im use to the whole hands on working on cars them selfs, but every time I do anything with wiring i end up having to go to the hospital but battery is sitting in the garage right now so i wont have to worrie about that ill just have to worrie about shocking the living **** outta my self i seen a few threads here with pics of the obd0 wiring harness with the obd1 plugs on it but i cant find the thread any more guess back to googleing, i love google and the search on this site so much help.
Why are you going hydro? The d15 will bolt straight up to the trans you already have. That being said you can leave the trans in the car and just pull the motor. And use the mounts off the old engine.

My soon to be wife wants the 5 speed that was on there motor if i put the 4 speed back on ill be cut off and she not the one whos paying for all this so thats why they hydros going in
Haha ok cool I wasnt sure how you all felt about the bird like that. Also only reason why I was gonna do the hydro 5 is becuase I got it for free with the motor same with the chipped p28 ecu and the harness. If there was a cable 5 speed near me id get the cable and sell the hydro but im not in a good place to find 5 speed trans for these motors. every one here has riced out autos
Little tractor big price tag. 16k was gonna do a deisle mower but when it came down to it, it was smarter to get the tractor. I also got no work done today on the car. To beat after work to start working on cleaning up the engine bay. My woman wants the engine bay red so Im doing a mix of red and black.
Well If you're hell-bent on putting in the hydro and decide to go the Hasport conversion route, feel free to hit me up with any install questions. Mine came with NO instructions and the HondaTuning article that pops up when you google that conversion seems complete but leaves a few steps out that ar crucial. Mine is working great though...
Thats what I was lookin into getting was the Hasport conversion. But im not sure when its gonna be because it looks like me and my woman are moving again because of something happened to her father where he lost his place where he was living But not sure when thats gonna be hell it might not even be till the end of the year shes the one who is looking. and nothing has been done to the car year im about to start sanding down the engine bay
If you can use a welder...
Rip the hydro components from a newer civic. You'd need the hydro actuator from atop the pedal, the hydro master cylinder, and a clutch line. Mount it up to your pedals and such. Yes?

Any one know if i can swap the pully for the alt, from my stock d15b1 over to the d15b vtec. The one of the vtec has room for three belts as where my other one only had room for two and I am not sure if it will fit in the engine bay with the three belt pully
Sorry for bumping this again but so happy that its 50 something out and get to have time to prep the engine bay im not sure if you can see in the pics i posted but there is rust. So i figured the motor is out and the new ones not going in till tomorrow might as well prep and paint it ya know i just have to go get some red paint and a can of black paint for the valve cover.
got the first coat of primer on. I am laying it down in thin layers because i left my brand new primer gun at my friends so i have to use a differnet gun. I would also liek to say yes i left alot of stuff still attached the main reason why im repainting the engine bay is because it was starting to rust to i wanted to make sure it didnt get no father then what it already was. Im trying to make it look good while still being lazy with it
Coming along nicely.
Man... that's LAZY!
Newspaper on the window... sort of ... and not even a shred of tape or paper on the cables, tubes, or components in the engine bay.

Thanks and alot of that stuff is getting replaced this friday im ordering the obd0-obd1 harness friday from rywire and then picking a few parts up from autozone. Im a painter but this is the first engine bay i have done and i have about 30 gallons of paint thinner (i also have about 40 gallons of buff yellow and navy blue i think it is and then all this other stuff) Im hoping the car will be done two weeks from this friday. The other reason why i felt like beng lazy was because i dont want the engine bay to stand out way to much since its a dd and a girls dd at the i dont want way to much time into this for her two wreck the car and **** **** up ya know? if this where my car the whole engine bay would have been stripped down before primer.
