Rad fan comes on WAY late, air in the system or something worse?
Hey guys how it going, I installed a new slim fan onto my civic dual core half size and it doesnt seemt o be turning on in the 195 area like I thought they did. I removed the stock fan and shroud, cut the connector off, and wired that connector to my new slim fan, and plugged it into the oem connector for the fan.
Started the car and it never kicked on until my gauge reads 220!!
What do you guys think would cause that? Id really love to utilize the stock wiring since its only a small generic 12" and only pulls 8amps so I didnt think using the stock wiring would be a problem

So you only replaced the fan if I am reading correctly.
The fan doesn't have a temperature sensor in it - the fan isn't turning on late.
Your temp switch is telling it when to turn on. Not sure what engine you have so it's either on the back of the block near the oil filter or, if you did a swap, it's on the the thermostat housing.

Fan, thermostat and rad hoses are brand new. Engine is a new swap but it is still a d16a6
Is it the single wire sensor beside the oil pressure switch? Anyway to test it?
Im assuming if I pull it out Im going to lose alot of coolant

a thought, check the resistance of the original motor and the new one.
Can you install the 2 wires going to that sensor either way?
The back of the sensor isnt labelled at all to know which wire to hook up to which of the 2 prongs
Maybe I have them backwards if it does happen to matter

What car and engine?
The ECT switch plugs into the rear of the block and has a Yel/Grn wire and a Blk wire. Is it connected?
Have you bled the cooling system. Air in the cooling system is a common cause for the radiator fan not running.

I dont know when the thermostat is supposed to open, its a brand new oem honda piece.
Its a 1989 Crx Si, d16a6 engine. Yes the ECT switch is plugged in, the fan works, it just comes on @ 220*
I have bled the cooling system with the rad cap off and interior heat on full until the fan came on twice
