1992 Accord sputtering and backfiring out of throttle body... FRUSTRATED!!
So this car has been hell trying to figure what is wrong with it!! I thought it was a fuel delivery problem........ I have replaced the fuel filter.... fuel pump. And still has not changed. So I replaced the coil, cap, rotor, wires and plugs still has not changed. Changed map sensor, checked main relay..... I have spent $600 on this car all ready!! It takes awhile to start.... and once it starts it fires on all 4 cylinders until you give it throttle and it starts sputtering like crazy, and starts backfiring out of the intake.... Please any help. Im so frustrated and stressed......
I dont think it is the timing belt because there are times when it runs perfect... and it is not sputtering or backfiring. It will run fine for about 2 minutes then start acting up. Could the ignition module be the culprit?
Backfiring out the intake is usually a condition relative to a timing or ignition issue. That or a bent or burnt intake valve.
Where it takes a long time to start. Have you replaced the battery or had it tested?
Have you done a compression test or leak down test on the engine?
What did the old spark plugs look like and what do the new ones look line now? The condition of the spark plugs can tell you a lot about the combustion conditions in the engine.
