B20vtec won't start HELP!!!
Ok here is the deal I have an 88 civic hatchback with a B20vtec in it, and what it just recently started doing is it will crank and start but the it will die then it will not start again at all like it will turn over but it won't start, and I think it may be a fuel pump because I couldn't hear it prime but would it start for like a second and then die? If not then what else could it be please this is my daily driver, and I need help.
ok so I ended up just replacing the main relay, and it still wont start I've now replaced the fuel filter the fuel pump (which might have been unnecessary) because I don't think there is power going to the pump because I'm not hearing it prime, and the car still will not start. So I need somone to point me to the next thing to check because I'm lost

cant check for CEL codes because I don't know how because its a OBD0 to OBD1 jumper harness and it dosnt have the little blue two prong conector but my pump is priming now (faulty main relay) but I plugged a noid light in to my injector harness and they are not getting signal to spray what could cause this sorry I'm kinda new to hondas please help me
Are you sure you dont have that plug? Peel back the carpet by the ecu and also check under the dash by the blower motor.
look here to see what you're looking for (not the same model but its the same plug)

You questioned whether or not the car could run without the pump and it may be possible (just a guess) since the system stays pressurized for ease of starting, but after that pressure is lost it shouldn't run or restart.
Does the car still start and run before it dies?

no the car will turn over but will not crank and the fuelpump primes and fuel is getting to the filter as far as i know but my injectors are not getting signal to spray what could cause this? thank you for the reply
Have you checked the basics like fuses and made sure you have gas. Without checking for CEL codes we'll mostly be guessing.
I dont know how you're checking the injectors voltage but the manual says to check for voltage (with the ignition on) between the yellow wire and a body ground, you should get approximately 10 Volts. if your not getting voltage there may be a short in the wiring for the injectors or also possibly a bad ECU, BUT all of that is based on having a #16 CEL code so you need to figure out how to check those.
ok this is really messed up yesterday I replaced the distributor jumped the car and it fired up and ran but my battery was dead so I didn't drive it I just let bit idle for a while then killed it and went to bed today i got another battery in the car expecting it to start and no fuel pump priming so now I am right back where i started please help me this is getting really annoying
This is super important... probably the first thing you should be looking at.
When you put the keys in and turn to the ON position (the position right before turning to start) does the check engine light come on for about 3 seconds and then shut off?

Yeah knowing if and what code its throwing is crucial.
I would suggest you wire in your own service connector. Find out what pins on the ECU are used for the service connector and add them in, you could probabley jump it at the ECU also if you're feeling lazy.

ok so heres what its doing now it will run and drive for a few days just fine then ill go out to start it in the mornings (after driving just fine for a few weeks) and no fuel pump so its not the relay and i cant find a good p28 pin out to splice in a service connector so still cant pull codes I know i have at least one for an o2 sensor but this is driving me nuts I have a feeling something isn't getting contact within the jumper harness but im not sure. but a pin out on a p28 if someone wouldn't mind helping me find one that would be great thanks again guys for all the help im just really lost ha ha. Oh and also read anther thread that said to clean the grounds on the thermostat housing did that still nothing and the crazy thing is that if i bypass the relay by jumping pins 5 and 7 on the plugin for the relay i hear the pump going so it points me to the relay right? well Ive replaced it three times now(under warranty)
The main relay turns the fuel pump on and you are saying your fuel pump isn't on.
Maybe not the relay itself, but maybe the wiring to the relay.
As I asked before, right when you put the keys in and turn to "ON", does the check engine light come on for 3 seconds and then turn off?
88 has the service (SCS) connector in the engine bay just behind the washer bottle rather than the connector in the passenger footwell.

The connector has 2 wires. One goes to ground, the other goes to ECU.
If you can't deal with the fuss of the finding the connector, you simply need to ground the OBD1 ECU pin D-4.

You should also try swapping in a known good ECU.
ok so just got off work went to my car and it started idk what it is but also its only showing i think a code 10?
its a long light then a pause then a long light again
