Default CRX SI B18A1 Code 8

Hooked up my 4 wire o2 to my jumper, i triple checked it's hooked up correctly. But immediately after I hooked it up I am throwing a code 8 now.... Seems to random to just happen at the same time. Any ideas?

Reset the ECU to see whether the code returns. If so, resistance test the TDC sensor. Check the two wires for a short or open.

Pulled the ecu and waiting now, but while I waited for it to warm up I noticed it was idling really low at maybe 400 rpm.

I found another multimeter, it tested at 411 which is fine to my understanding. So that means my distributor is fine correct?

Did code 8 return after resetting the ECU?

Do these^ two tests from the two TDC sensor wire pins in the ECU connector.

So trace them back to the ecu through the loom you mean?

You test the wires with a multimeter. Do you have an OBD1 or OBD0 ECU?

From unplugged ECU connector B:

1) Measure resistance between B13 and B14. It should be about the same as you measured for the TDC sensor from the distributor plug.

2) Individually test for continuity to body ground at B13 and B14. There should be none.

If I did it correctly, resistance between b13/b14 is roughly the same as the dist test. But the ground test "if I did it right" came out with a reading of 1.7 for both.

Also I unplugged my jumper for the 4 wire o2 just now. Car runs fine... Still starts a bit hard but it accelerates fine and feels normal now.

This^ is the problem and the cause of code 8 - an electrical short(s). Now unplug the distributor connector and repeat the same short tests to see whether continuity to body ground is retained or eliminated at B13 and B14.

Did it run poorly before? Did code 8 disappear? If so, maybe you mistakenly spliced into the TDC sensor wires?

Distributor connected: Wht/Blu=1.7 Orn/Blue=1.7

Distributor Disconnected: Wht/Blu=O Orn/Blue=1.7

This^ result tells you that each wire has a short somewhere between the ECU and distributor plugs. Might be easiest to just run two new wires of similar gauge.

Code 8 stayed after unplugging the o2 jumper. Also It was a straight foward seperate harness for the o2 from Zerg. Kind of stupid proof I would think.

Well that sucks, straight wired it and im still getting code 8 and 1.7 reading. Good cable straight from the distributor to the Ecu.
