Default R2D2 or 3CPO

Hi, wondering how I tell what motor I have in my 91 Accord 4 cylinder EX-R? I see reference to F22B2 and alike with parts being sold on eBay and want to confirm what my engine is prior to purchase. Thank you.

1) Go to your car
2) Open the hood
3) Look to left of header by the transmission
4) Read the markings
5) Learn what motor you have

I looked under the hood and NO GREEN ARROWS...now what?

Just kidding, thanks for pointing that out!

Many many more stupid questions to follow...please stay tuned.

Cheers!

No worries, boring day at work and arrows are fun to make. IIRC I think you've got a F22A1 or A4?

The kid is at school with the car but I will check when he gets home and post my findings. Again, thanks for your help!

EX-R is the Canadian equivalent to an American EX. F22a4 is what's in it, f22a1 is in the LX and DX trims. Great car that's damn near bulletbroof.

Yup, it's an F22A4 just as you suspected.

Do you happen to know what the R stands for in EX-R? Does it just mean it’s a Canadian model? I think I have seen a few running around here in Canada with just EX on them, no R.

My understanding for some models is the following

CDM EX = USDM LX
CDM EX-R = USDM EX

Similarly,

CDM SIR = USDM SI

That’s what I figured...nomenclature for different markets, US vs. Canada, really means the same thing.

So if I have a 90 accord ex, would I have the same motor?

Well, you could follow my very easy tutorial. Five simple steps and a picture.

I think this thread should be stickied as to what motor do I have.
