Default Price check on Hybrid Crx

Buddy of mine might be selling his old project crx. He put it together back in 2005 and put about 1500 miles on the car before it was parked in an underground garage. Between his job and his 2 young kids the car has sat untouched for the last 8 years.

Parts list is as follows:

JDM GSR swap from Hmotorsonline
Hasport mount kit with cable conversion
Full race front crossmember
Hondata s300 ( OG Evans Tune)
Thermal Catback exhaust
Ebay header
Ebay intake
Ground Control/Koni yellow with extended tophats
Fresh factory SI calipers from honda all around
Stainless steel brake lines

The body has about 200k miles on it and has some rough spots and a few small spots of rust.
The sunroof needs a rebuild to work

What would you say is a fair price for this setup?

Sitting untouched, not running, is not necessarily a good thing.
Mods don't necessarily add to the value, especially when stock ones are getting hard to find and are generally more in demand.
If it were mint stock shape, with the mileage, I'd say $4k-5k max.

As it sits, without seeing pics, how bad the rot is and how complete overall the car is inside and out, I'd put it no more than $3500 on the high end.

he may have spent a pretty penny back then but these days swaps are cheap(er) and easier to come by, and you have to factor in the car is 23 years old.

that and while i realize people need to make money spending 3-4 grand on a stock (as in no mods to the motor internally) motor swap IMO is just crazy

Third sticky from the top would be more appropriate.

Doesn't matter if he paid $6000, unless you're Chip Foose, a modified car will not be worth the sum of it's parts. If the plan is to extract every penny out of the car, the only way is to part it out.

if it has sat NOT running then it is very likely the fuel tank and pump will need to be replaced due to rust. also add a new battery to that, its likely that much of the rubber and weather stripping is dry rotted and cracking, very possible that the seam sealer where body panels meet is cracked and will let water leak through as well. Very careful rust inspection is needed, if the rust is minor surface rust its not as big a deal, but if it is bubbled at all that usually means there is a lot more hidden rust.

The car is probably not worth as much as you think it may be...
