Default It's a shame it had to come to this...

My recently acquired ITR has been a target by theives. At first I was somewhat skeptical about the reputation of the ITR and it's potential for theft. But I have experienced first hand. On three separate occasions.

1. 3:00am, a Red nissan sentra pulls over in front of my house. Passenger gets out and walks toward my carport, my motion detector came on and he got spooked.
2. The night right after that a Silver GTS Celica that "supposedly" lives on my block drives up and down my neighborhood and as he passes my house he slows down almost to a complete stop.
3. Last night, an asian individual was standing by my mailbox around 12:00am when my sister and her husband scared him off when they came home from the movies. This individual walked by my house twice in one evening and later came with a group of friends.

Actions took:
1. Called the police and my house is now on a watch by the local police.
2. Father purchased two additional weapons in case the theives wanted something other than the vehicle...eg:house.
3. Vehicle is parked in carport with 4Runner blocking it.
4. Motion detector lights have been set to stay on longer than usual.

I'm sorry, but I haven't been getting enough sleep lately because of this. It's a shame that not even a month that my car has been targeted. I have been teaching my rotweiler how to attack. (any sugguestions on that?)

You are doing a good job of watching the car but be carefull about your house materials too. Those theives could might as well get pissed and mess up your house.

Good luck with sleeping too...

ExOdy, I've been taking alot of extra precaution and have been putting my car under close surveilance. I'm not too worried about the car, I'm more worried about the people kicking down my door and entering into the house. If they steal my car and get away with it, so be it, I have insurance. But a vehicle can be replaced, family members can't.

I don't know if I'd be posting this info if I were in the same postion as you. not only are you giving information I'd prefer to keep secret, but you've also listed info that could be used against you if the thief were to take you to court... as in premeditation. with the screwy laws we have now days, it could end up being used against you.

in any event, stay safe and wish you the best.

I wish you didn't have to worry about this crap!!! I definitely share your concerns. I hate punks, and thieves...they need to get a life or pay a price. I agree with one of the posts, be careful on what you write down because the laws only protect the bad people, not the good people trying to protect what is theirs.

We all feel your pain, and unfortunately, owning a Type R has been very stressful for me. I love the car so much, but it is like driving around in a pressure cooker. People just can't leave you or the car alone. There are so many damn nice cars out their, M3's, NSX's, so why bother us.

We have an incredible car that people either love or hate, and those who claim to hate it, really love it. I have been back and forth between keeping my R or selling it, but I always gravitate back to it. There just arent' too many cars out there in this price range that give you as complete a package as the Type R.

Yes, before people start flaming and pissing me off, I am not saying the R is the best thing on the road, but for me, it is king. I love the Type R, and even if I sell mine someday, or move on to something else, it will not be because of the car but the idiots who can't let any of us own one in peace.

Peace to all Type R drivers, and especially to you, hang in there.

damn Len be careful out there. Not too long ago a bunch of fools rolled by my house in a minivan and basically came to a complete stop while checking out all the cars in my driveway. I opened up the door and stood there staring at them with a bat in my hand. These people have no idea what lies in waiting on the other side of the door if they decide to try something shady. They have no ******* idea. I triple dog dare them to try anything.

I agree with Kelly.

I'd delete a lot of the threats you made.

the same thing happened to me last night, I was coming home from the strip club and when I was about 10 blocks or so from my home, there was an integra that was driving behind me, I didn't really think he was following me until I turned into my neighborhood and followed me basically to my door. Right when I parked my car into the garage, I stepped outside with a crow bar and started walking towards the integra. He saw me coming and hit reverse then peeled out and left.

gay people these days

Guys,

Thank you for all the support. I really hope that this is the end to this thread. As for the rest of you, be safe out there. I thought I lived in a "safe" neighborhood...

I wonder if one of those 802.11b (wireless ethernet) cameras would be good to use as surveillance to watch your car from inside and also record last x hours to disk incase someone ever does steal your car -- find out what happened after the fact and provide evidence to the c0ps.

Also, I wonder if anyone makes a motion detector that either integrates into a wireless camera, or makes a wireless motion detector to warn the peeps inside the house that someone is lurking outside.

Wow, I actually think there is a use for them other than sticking them in your neighbors bedroom window.

Oh, and I'd refer you to that scene in Goodfellas where he smacks the neighbor in the face with his gun for f00king with this girlfriend (itr will pass for gf in this example).

i would set up an camara in your carport and vid everything that happens. you can go to radio shack and get a whole system for like $400. sounds like a lot but is protecting the ones you love.

What is a carport?
It's actually a garage without the garage door. It was a design feature on my house which was built in the 70s. Quite effective in keeping your car from rain and easy and safe access into your house, it's just not as affective as a garage door when it comes to theft prevention.

Sean, I would take up your offer if it wasn't for the fact that my ITR is my daily driver. My parents are having a discussion about moving. I'm not sure how far that would go. To give you guys an idea of how my neighborhood as become bad in the years: when we first moved here, we could basically leave our cars unlocked and no one would bother. Now we must chain our lawnmowers down. About a month ago, a house on the next block over was broken into and a lady was savagely beaten to death. A week or two ago, a friend of mine had his house burglarized. Luckily, no one was at home when the incident happened. We live in a somewhat low-medium income neighborhood with houses ranging in the $100-140s. I have a truck depot right in my backyard also. I also have an Airport a couple miles away. So it's a pretty rough neighborhood getting worse.
