Trans wont go into 2-4-R. Rhd Crx, just did a single cam swap
Hey guys, ran into a problem today with my swap. I have an 89' Rhd Crx Si. Comes factory with the Dohc ZC. I pulled that motor and have swapped in a D16A6 motor and USDM Si trans.
I know the trans was in good working order when it was pulled from its last car. But I cannot shift it into 2-4-R gear at all. The shifter goes smoothly into 1-3-5 though. But the bottom gears all feel like theres no gear or something there.
My first thinking is that the shift linkage may need to be modified? I just re-used the factory JDM linkage on the USDM trans. I do also remember the shifter base falling to the ground sometime during the swap while I had the car jacked up real high, could it just not be sitting right there??
Hoping this is an easy fix, appreciate any help

Shift rods? I dont believe I have a second one, the USDM motor I just put in was just a motor and trans, no linkages or anything with it
i have no idea about any jdm stuff but just my opinion. from lhd to rhd the shifter is still in the middle and the motor is still in the same spot in the engine bay. why would the linkage be different? but thats just how i am thinking i could very easily be wrong.
I dont believe the tranny was ever dropped, Im quite careful with my things and its been sitting in the corner for some time wrapped in seran.
I was under the car looking at the shifter area, and this doesnt seem right to me, should that metal cup be up inside the rubber?

Other than a bent shift shaft can it be anything else or anyway to diagnose or fix it?

And just to throw this out there, my "bitch pin" was beat and rusty looking, and the oem pin from Honda is on backorder for 3 weeks. So I used a 5/16" spring pin, which was basically the same except instead of having the "jaws" cut through it, it was simply split down one side. It fit the hole perfect and snug and needed to be hammerred in gently.
I doubt this could cause the problem, but again just thought I should mention

Fixed it.
To be honest I couldnt even tell ya what fixed it. I took the linkages off. Confirmed I could move the shift rod into 3 positions easily, cleaned the linkages because they were gross. Put it all back together. Shifts into every gear like BUTTER
