Default Brundell's Holset H1C fj/Vitara build

So this is my second attempt at a turbo build. I had plans previously to do a simple stock block t25 setup and ended up having financial problems and had to get rid of everything. Now that I got everything straightened out it's time to go at it again and get the **** done this time.

The block is gonna be a simple stock sleeve custom fj rods/vitara build w/ a ported y8 head and delta 272-2 cam. The turbo I will be running is a holset small h1c off a early 90's cummins diesel. At this point I would like to do a twin scroll setup but we'll see what my budget allows. Who knows maybe a couple people in here can talk me into committing to a twin scroll.

I will be looking for 400 hp with this build, hopefully by early summer.

Here is a list of parts that I will constantly update as I acquire things.

Head
*Mildly ported y8 head w/ valve job
Delta 272-2 cam (bisi 2.4 replica)
*Stock retainers
*Crower springs
*Skunk 2 valves
*Ported y8 intake mani
*Aem cam gear
Arp head studs
*Oem head gasket

Block
D16z6 block/crank w/o block guard
*Custom lenght fj rods
75.5mm vitara pistons
Acl race rod/main bearings
Oem water/oil pump

Trans
*S40 ex trans
*comp 9 lb flywheel
*comp stage 4 6 puck sprung clutch
Lsd ( Undecided on what kind)

Turbo/Fuel
*Small holset h1c
Bep bolton housing
Mini ram mani
3" Down pipe
38mm tial wastegate
Close loop dump tube
*3" thermal r&d exhaust
*walbro 255
650cc precision injectors

Management

Hondata s300 or Aem ems
*Innovative mtx-l wideband
Autometer boost-oil pressure gauge

Im sure there are some things that I am missing, I'll update this thread as soon as possible. More updates = more progress

Alright I finally get to update the thread. I just recieved my turbo yesterday and it showed up in awesome shape with what seems to be a fresh rebuild. It has a cummins remanufactured plate on it so that makes me feel a little better about buying a used turbo, seeing that it was most likely done by a professional.

Ive been doing a little research and I think I am going to keep the 18.5 cm hot side to see what it does. I understand boost will probably come in a little high in the rpms but thats fine as long as the turbo is efficient up top. I plan on turning up to 9k rpm if the cam and turbo make power that high.

So now that I have the turbo I am saving up for a z6 block that I am gonna grab from a member on here and the vitara pistons. If all goes well I will have the block on its way within a week or two.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well I spoke with ron today from rld-fab 45 mins from me in binghamton ny. I called up to discuss possible twin scroll options for my turbo setup and the cost I was looking at for a top mount and ramhorn set up. His prices are very good to say the least. The price we agreed on was $1,075 which includes topmount mani flanged for dual wastegates, both dump pipes and a 3' down pipe... I think I know exactly where my tax returns going.

(btw price for a twin scroll ramhorn set with dual wastegates and down pipe is 975)

Also I spoke with bob at rc autoworks and greg at go-autoworks and the price at rc was $1200 for a twin scroll mani and go-autoworks was $900. I this point its clear that rld-fab is the best bang for the buck seeing I get the whole setup with mani, down pipe and both dump tubes for the price of just the mani at both other shops.

Your right I dont NEED a twin scroll mani... It's a twin scroll turbo though and I chose to take advantage of the design. Thanks for showing your concern though.

update: I have a z6 block coming, fresh bore, hone, deck. Comes with crank, girdle, oem oil and water pump. So at this point I only need a couple things to get the engine ready for assembly then its time to finish piecing everything together for the turbo setup.
