Default oil leak/possible related issue

Hey guys,

Got a 96 prelude h22a1.

About 3 weeks ago car overheated on the highway on my way home. Found the coolant leak.

I believe it is #1 on this picture. it was the coolant hose right under the distributor/vtec solenoid.

I got the coolant leak fixed however I'm wondering if I blew some sort of gasket when that happened because I have a periodic oil leak from around my oil filter. Got under the car today to see if I could pinpoint it any better. Do you guys have any ideas as to what else back there could be causing the leak?

It seems to drip slower over time. Upon starting 1 drop every 3-5 seconds and then about 3 minutes later it's 1 drop per few minutes and then eventually stops. This happens every time I start up the car.

Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

Thank you

Check to see if the oil filter has two gaskets instead of one. Sometimes when you change the old oil filters the gaskets get stuck on the engine, then when you install the new filter you get a gasket on top of a gasket.

Wish it was that simple. I learned my lesson with the left over oil filter ring about 2 years ago. Had an oil explosion all over my garage.

********

Things I should probably update you guys on. No oil in coolant or any head gasket related issues that I can tell.

Car has not overheated once since I cut off the bad section of coolant hose and refitted it.
- no bubbling or excess coolant in the resevoir

Could you guys tell me what the sensor is below the sensor is directly below the oil filter as well?

I believe that's the oil pressure switch.

the oil cooler gasket might've gotten ruined when it overheated.

It's probably the valve cover, which is probably why it stops when it's not running.

I thought so too. Ran my finger along the valve cover and it was completely dry.

Hard to say for sure. I felt oil on top of the oil filter and there was oil on top of the rubber cover of the oil pressure/sensor deal below it. Just wondering what is above the oil filter just go get a good idea of what all I'm looking at needing to replace. I'll replace the oil and oil filter this weekend for peace of mind. everything was tight though

Yes #33 is the oil cooler O-ring.

AFter my H23 swap into my 3rd prelude, I developed a slow oil leak like yours, then after a time is started dripping rapidly to the point that I was heading into to work one cold morning and the oil was dripping directly onto my header which started burning up and causing a lot of smoking.

I could not breath in cabin so I open the window and while that vented the smoke, I was freazing due to all my heat was going right out the window with the smoke.

I turned back and head home and called into work and had to take the day off, and fixed it in about an hour.

True story...

Hmm... I thought I was clear on that... Yes it was the O-ring that need replacement, it was missing a piece when I took it off.

Thought I'd give you guys an update.

Replaced the oil cooler o-ring and the oil/filter and oil today.

Fixed! No leaks whatsoever. No more coolant leaks, no more oil leaks. I appreciate your guys' help.

The oil cooler o ring was still in one piece but when I got it out Do yourselves a favor and get one of those hook/gasket remover tools.) I pinched the o-ring with my fingers and it snapped in half.

Next few weeks: Fix this damn exhaust leak.
