best manual transmission fluid

I've always been a huge proponent of the Honda MTF, but I recently ran my ten-year old stockpile dry. I'm not gonna lie, the new stuff is **** water thin, about the consistency of brake fluid. Transmission seems to shift just fine, but I'm not sure if it's as good for the older style transmissions (using a 2001 gs-r currently). I may just go back to 10w30 dino juice in the future.
I, like the others, typically use Genuine Honda MTF. For a daily driver I have found that it suits my needs.
I recently picked some up from my dealer for $7.75 per quart (Part #08798-9031)
I have friends who also swear by Red Line, also may be worth taking a look into.

Back when they used to call for 10w30 in the shop manuals. Ive noticed no differdncd between 10w30, honda mtf, or syncomesh. I had a daily z6 trans 8-13psi daily abused, lasted 4years before the diff gave out on good ole 10w30. It outlasted many axles and motors. I now have a 4.78 trans and run syncromesh
