2000 Honda Civic SI Trunk Leak...BAD. Help!
So, I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI and it has a pretty bad trunk leak. I got in the trunk with a flashlight while someone sprayed the car from the bottom to the top and I found and patched 5 leaks with marine sealant where I have identified below.
But, when I was in the trunk with a flashlight I was laying on the plywood and when we lifted it up randomly in the patching process about an inch of water had gotten in the lowest part of the trunk. I NEVER saw that much water come from ANYWHERE when I was in there and we were spraying the car. Also, nothing above that pool was wet. No water trails or anything. It's like it literally defied gravity and came up from underneath the trunk or maybe there is something I'm missing??
So it rained pretty good the other day and I went to check and see if it was fixed and there was almost 2 inches of water in the spare tire dip and still getting super wet everywhere else. ]:<
The tubes going down each side of the trunk look dirty and dry like they haven't seen water in a good while, and when I was watching them in the trunk I never saw water in them or anywhere around them.
But when I checked it when it rained it looks like water trails are coming from where the tubes are. So that could be one place, but I think I have more leaks then just the tubes. And are those tubes from the sunroof or just drains from the back area of the car or what? Because I thought the sunroof drains went to the front of the car?
Thanks!!

The pressure release vent can be a problem if the rubber flaps, [outside of vent] are "bent", [not sitting flat] and not sealing the opening.
The tail light gaskets are a common problem, you may want to replace them.
Also to make it easier to find the leak, remove the rear seat, then remove everything from the trunk, dry eveything off real good and look into the trunk from the rear seat, [with a lot of light], have someone slowly pour water, [remove spray nozzle] over sections of the rear of the car while you look for the leaks. 94

I second this. Looks like you have multiple issues, but when I bought a 1997 Prelude I had similar problems, there was literally a lake in my spare tire wheel well. I created my own tail light gaskets using the DIY below and it solved my leak.

yea or what I did to find the leak is put the uv light die for ac around the tail lights and any where else I thought I was coming in at and go through the car wash and lay in the trunk with the uv light and see where its coming in at
yeah the most often do leak from around the tail lights. go to wal mart or wherever and get your hands on some stuff called shoe goo. take the tail lights out and put the shoe goo crap on the gasket then bolt it all back in and let it set up.
da integras have a notorious cabin leak around the fresh air vent and shoe goo on the new grommets was an amazing fix. no reason it cant work on a tail light. of course the other option is to drill a few 1/8" drain holes in the spare tire well. water might come in but it wont stay lol

Well, we took the tail lights out and inspected them and specifically sprayed them with the hose really well when I was inside the trunk and nothing was coming in from them. So, I don't think it's those, but the vent is probably what I'll look at next.

hey guys hope im not hijacking, to start a new thread it would have the same heading as this, and believe it or not same picture too. where the words 'completely together' are in the picture above, the secone 'e' in 'together' theres a small hole and ive got a drip every 7 seconds during rainfall. as you can imagine this can build up into a pool very quickly. i dont know if its a flaw with the window seal or is it running down from near the door as its a very tight spot to get into. heres a quick video showing the issue..
Yes the pic only shows one on the front and one on the back but if you look at the quantity there is two of each. 94
Hi,
My 2002 Civic Ex Coupe was taking water thru vent on driver side of the trunk, while driving in the rain.
One of the clips was broken and it was enough to push water inside of the trunk( I have no mud flaps).
Removed it and put silver tape around the hole.
Looking to replace air vent as soon I'll get it somewhere in junk yard.
In the mean time must close the door gently because I see sunroof pushed out when slamming door hard.
But no water inside the trunk so far.
