Blowing smoke on a particular corner @ track!
hi guys, i was at a trackday on Sat, and there was this one particular corner (high G's) where my car was blowing alot smoke, this would happen at that corner evertime without fail. I was wondering what is causing this and whether a baffled oil pan will help this??

What color was the smoke? As long as you keep the oil a little past full, it's not going to starve.
Which direction was the turn?

smoke was whitish/black........ it was a slightly uphill right hander.

) It could be possible that your oil came up suddenly in a bump under racing condition (+100km/h) that caused oil burn... which would lead to black smoke. I've got no cluse how you can have white & black smoke.

Could it be possible that on the high G-turn uphill climb, you could've hit a small bump? (maybe bumping off the highest point and car shooting up a bit? /\ <-- hill and you went up and down fast. LOL.

I had the same problem with my GSR hybrid. Everytime i take this right hand turn, it will blow smoke. But everything else is fine on the track. But the turn at my local track is flat....not uphill. But it is a little rough there and i am running TIEN RAs on a civic so the ride is ROUGH!
I believe there is no real solution if the driving condition is forcing the oil to be sucked up and burned (I remember hearing about these conditions somewhere, but can't think of the source now.
)... maybe you should ask this question in the Comptetion Forum.
I'd just monitor the oil level carefully... ' cuz even if you overfill the oil, it'll dry up rather quick.
Also, I would definitely pick up a baffled oil pan if you're racing on regular basis... I think $200-$300 USD is a small investiment for the engine.
Cos: noticed his oil pan has a nice big dent today... should probably get a new one with baffles.
