Icon2 1994 Honda Accord EX Muffler Leak (Weld or Replace?)

Hello Tech's-

Have a question regarding about the Muffler on my Honda Accord 1994 EX.

I have a stock muffler, no rust and in great condition(~2-3 years old) but it's leaking, because someone bumped into me from the back.

Please see the picture below, in which I have highlighted the point and place from where it's leaking, there is a big hole at that joint location.

Looking forward to you guys for advise and help, what are my options:

I am trying to save $$$, so any advise which can SAVE and help, would be greatly appreciated.

P.S: Emission is due in '4' months, am not too worried about it now, but whatever option I go for, need to keep in mind for the emission test. Also, this thing is driving me NUTS, it rattles a lot

I guess if the weld job costs less than the $68.28 than go for it!!

Usually the cheapest they'll weld it for is $50. Take it to the shop to get a quote and see if it's even weldable before deciding on a new muffler.

Get some JBweld, mix it and slather it on.

Find a local community college that has a body shop or welding class. Ask the teacher if he can weld it up. Or bring it to the local muffler shop, shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks. But if it is rusted out and that is why it broke, then it would be best just to pickup a new muffler assembly from Rockauto.

Heard and researched that JBWeld is no good and will not last long too.

Best piece of advice, going to research and work on it, if it would be $20, that would be sweet, else new muffler is my last option. BTW, existing one is not rusted or anything, it's in great condition/shape, broke because someone bumped in my car from rear end and broke the muffler

Thanks guys

Any one in the favor of exhaust bandage, I have showed in the above picture? Is it going to help for rattling and emission?

Is it just foil tape in a fancy package? Cheaper to purchase a roll from Home Depot, but that is only useful for patching holes in the exhaust, not fixing a broken joint.

One thing of note, the original, and quality replacement, mufflers have a strut from the muffler to the piping. This is to add strength and prevent damage at that joint incase of a light impact. If your muffler does not have that piece now, it would be advisable to have something added to help that joint in the future.

Thanks so much for your reply and response, appreciate it.

3 years ago, I replaced the resonator pipe assembly, so replaced bolts/gasket at the Muffler end, with the new ones.

Question:
Now, since I will be replacing the muffler, do I need to replace the bolts and gasket too? Because bolts looks in pretty good condition, not sure about gasket though?

Planning to go with this one :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Walker-18562...3fe5dd&vxp=mtr OR
http://www.amazon.com/Walker-Exhaust.../dp/B000K01WTS

If anyone has a Discount code/coupon for Rock Auto, that would be greatly appreciated, then I will get it from them.($93 for Muffler, with all gaskets and bolts)

Waiting for your input and response?

Thanks again Guys!!!
