Engine overheating after brake change?
OK guys this is weird just did a front brake pads change on my 97 integra gsr yesterday.
After driving around for literally a few seconds to test the brakes i noticed my temp gauge on HOT.Thank god i wasnt far away form home i put the heater on and parked the car. This morning i fired her up again she got warm as normal but after reaching normal operating temperature a few seconds after the needle shoots to H without the fans turning on.Later on i tried again with the heater on( both fans do turn on with the heater on) it took the typical time to get to normal operating temperature and then the gauge just shoots to H about a minute after.I doesn't seem like the head gasket is blown i don't get any white smoke, she idles fine, no loss of coolant, no bubbles in radiator with the cap off.The upper and lower radiator hose seem get hot at the same temp.I am beat and lost.any suggestions???Im thinking it might be the thermostat?

I think your brakes and your overheating problem are just a coincidence.. But anyways, your temp gauge shoots to H? That is very weird as usually it takes quite some time for the gauge to go from operating temp. to H. Are you sure the lower hose gets hot? engine bay heat can make the lower hose seem like its warming up when its really not. I only am running my radiator fan and its suppose to turn on when your engine gets hot, if its not coming on it could be a electrical problem. Just be careful not to keep making it overheat as it can damage your head gasket and you don't want that..
Replace your thermostat, it's cheap insurance. Test your coolant temp switch, don't let the gauge go too high when testing it to avoid damage. Make sure the cooling fans cycle at the right temp, the fans use a different temp switch. Use good quality parts. You shouldn't drive the car until you get this problem fixed.
Sounds like a coincidence to me.Check your termostat, hoses, fans(make sure they turn on,radiator for leaks, water pump(leaking) in that order form cheapest to most expensive.
