Knock on start up???
Hey guys, I drove to my cousins before newyears was there for a few hours and when i came out to leave (it was about 4am so it was probably 45 outside) I started my car and it made a strange ticking/knocking sound like something was loose. Then after about 15 sec it went away. I didn't think anything of it but I hoped it didnt come back. Yet, it did. I started to drive and about a block away from where I left, it started ticking at about 1,000-2,000 RPMs. If I revved it higher and started actually driving the sound would dim and even go away if i got to about 4k-5k. but Once i stopped at a light it would get loud again. It sounds like it's coming right from where the cam gears are on the right side of the motor (it's a B16A, which I probably should have mentioned earlier.)
ANY Info/advice on what to do or what it might be Would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED. I don't want to have to scrap this motor for doing something stupid if it is a somewhat simple fix. THANKS and have a happy new year
(Mine's not treating me too well

A lot of people have this problem with the earlier gens of the B16A. They are commonly caused by the "LMA" lost motion assembly. search it up.

check your valve clarence you might even find that a locking nut or two are loose or even missing if thats the case you will need to find it possible to be in the oil pan
Thanks for all the info and help guys! I took the valve cover off and it turned out to be that the exhaust cam gear's bolt was a bit loose and the washer was rattling like mad. Thanks for all your help though!!!
