Re: 1992 honda accord running rough
Posted on 12/23 about my car missing, and bogging down after aprox 1 mile and what I have already tried. Brother inlaw told me to check the coolant temp sensor. I had not looked at it because according to my manual I should get a code. Anyway, disconnected it and the CEL came on and revs increased but no sputttering or misses driving down the road. Is the sensor the problem or is it now running richer and covering up what my real problem is? Thanks
Verify the temp sensor is working as anticipated. It may be stuck on a value that is incorrect for the actual temperature of the engine. This would cause for incorrect timing/fueling adjustments.
I have a 93 EX and my o2 Sensor failed without throwing a code and caused bogging so severe that the car was barely drivable while it was acting up. The bad o2 throws the computer out of whack and makes it send bad information to the IACV. Car might idle okay, but under load the bad mix manifests itself. Although it's hard to tell air/fuel mix bogging from typical ignition miss, the air/fuel bogging has a distinct sucking sound as the intake gasps with the mix that is either too rich or too lean. The car will lurch but most often will not cut off because the ignition system is still firing like it's supposed to.
Replacement o2 sensor recommendation is Denso available from many auto parts stores. Your car only has one sensor and the last time I checked they were still pretty cheaply priced.

Glad you got it back running right again. Please note that some people (not all) have reported having problems with the Bosch o2, so save your receipt, just in case. Maybe your Bosch will work out just fine.
