Can you tell me what this is and why it is leaking oil?

It has leaked since i bought the car for like 2 years it just leaks very slowly.







Any information is helpful and greatly appreciated.

Looks like your cam seal needs replacing.

Just pull the plug out, clean up the oil around the hole and the plug OD and let it dry. You can reuse the plug and use some form of RTV and apply it around the OD of the plug and press it back in. Let the sealant dry for 2-3 hours before starting the engine. I used Honda bond sealant left over from my transmission rebuild. So far it is been dry and oil leak free.

 

The cam seal is cheaper at your local NAPA store than the dealer.

 

Cam seal...I have pulled and replaced. It is an easy fix.

Just replace the o- ring on the plastic cam seal. That part pops out easy with a small flat pick. Take it out, clean it and match up a new oring for 7 cents.
