Two weeks ago I bought a 98 civic ex. Eight days later it sent a rod coupler through the oil pan with no warning. Not sure yet if head is damaged. It looks like the cylinder wall got chunked pretty good. I've found several fairly cheap blocks. Will a y8 head work with a y7 block with no mods. Are matching casting numbers a necessity. First Honda please help.

 

I believe the Y7 pistons will bump up compression. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I would go with a whole, new engine swap, bro...You would be spending about the same .

 

Or you could trade it for a DA Integra
