Default DIY stock intake piping upgrade :)

Most of you will think I'm a geek for looking into this but I'm all about $ per HP.I recently decided to see how much bigger a 94-01 integra's stock intake piping was than a stock 88-91 civic. These were the results.

INTEGRA 2.5/8" at the throttlebody
CIVIC 2.1/2" at the throttlebody

The integra has roughly 5% bigger inlet

INTEGRA 3.1/2" at the filter end
CIVIC 2.7/8" at the filter end

The integra has roughly 18% bigger outlet

So from my findings just by upgrading to a B series intake piping it would allow your motor roughly 15-20% more air flow.Hope this helps someone. The way I think about it is for $10 to Have a little upgrade like this might help a few people out there.Let me know what you guys think of my "findings" Matt

top intake piping is from the 94-01 integra, bottom piping is from a 88-91 civic.

How is this an upgrade? How did you figure 15-20% more airflow? How does this look installed?

This is hardly a DIY.

Yes, I'm curious as well how you came to the conclusion you received a 15-20% increase in airflow.

Just because there is more area for flow doesn't mean that you actually gain power or usable power btw. Velocity and turbulence play a factor as well. If you look at the Integra pipe, there are two bends with one of the bends being pretty sharp. The civic pipe is relatively straight.

If this was the case you could just remove your pipe in all and run straight Throttle body and expect more power lol

Yea, without the intake piping you would sound 10x faster.

Bigger pipe doesnt mean bigger air flow. Nor is it a upgrade.

And not one question answered. Let's see a dyno chart.

Could do an airflow test, just to see the difference in flow alone, not performance value necessarily

lmao, if you do a cheap experiment do you run to the dyno?
Sorry my money is used for more practical and useful stuff.

It's not even an experiment. Not even a cheap one.
All the info you've provided past the physical measurements of the piping is just you guessing with not a shred of data to back it up. The piping is bigger so it must flow more? So what? The end result of this "mod" is supposed to be what? To increase horsepower? Fuel economy? What? The dyno is the only place that you can get definitive answers with something like this and you didn't even use one.

So you're saying this was a useless mod?
And still not answered one question put to you.

something better would be maybe to replace the stock elbow with something more smooth and less turbulent like a silicone elbow. might give better response but that's it.

What do you think you gain by doing this?

Not to mention how does this apply to a 92-00 civic?
